New to all this? That’s completely normal.
Everyone starts from scratch. The first concrete step is the first-aid course: it’s mandatory and doesn’t depend on any other formality. Book it from 95 CHF, and we’ll guide you from there.

Learner’s permit
The authorisation that lets you drive with a supervisor during your training. You get it after the eye test, first aid and passing the theory exam.
First-aid course
The 10 h course is mandatory to get your learner’s permit. The certificate remains valid for 6 years. At My-Autoécole: from 95 CHF.
Awareness course
8 hours of mandatory traffic theory. You’ll learn to anticipate hazards and drive responsibly. From 100 CHF.
Probationary licence
Your first licence, valid for 3 years. In the first 12 months, you must complete the 2-phase course. Without a serious offence, it then becomes permanent.
Additional training (2 phases)
The mandatory training day after passing the practical exam, to be completed within the first 12 months of the probationary licence.
OCV / SAN
OCV = Office cantonal des véhicules (Genève). SAN = Service des automobiles et de la navigation (Vaud). These are the authorities that manage licences, applications and exams in each canton.

How much does it cost in total?

What happens if I fail an exam?
You can retake after a waiting period. We’ll review what to work on together and plan the next steps.
Is there a minimum number of lessons?
There’s no imposed minimum for cars: it depends on how comfortable you are behind the wheel. Your instructor helps you decide when you’re ready for the practical exam.
